Kenneth Jay Lane's jewelry has graced starlets and heads of state for more than five decades. Lane graduated from RISD in 1954 and began designing shoes: he worked in the shoe design department at Christian Dior when he started making jewelry on the side. Then, a buyer at Saks Fifth Avenue learned of Lane's side project, and offered to put his jewelry in the store.
