The Halsbrook Story

Halsey Meyer Schroeder has her mother to thank for many things, not the least of which is the inspiration for Halsbrook. Over the last few years Halsey watched as her stylish mother became increasingly frustrated with her virtual shopping options. "My mom and her friends were some of the chicest women I knew, but they couldn’t find what they wanted," Halsey says. "Everything was too young and too trendy." And just like that, the Halsbrook idea was born. Within a few months of graduating from Harvard Business School, Halsey had a plan in place. Halsbrook - the name is a blend of Halsey and Millbrook, the town where Halsey spends her summers with her family - would be the ideal online destination for women interested in impeccably crafted, classically designed clothing that will stand the test of time. "I wanted the experience to be elegant from start to finish," Halsey explains. "From the carefully selected pieces to the warm customer service to the beautiful packaging." She built her team—a web designer from Argentina, a merchandising manager with more than 30 years experience, an expert wardrobe consultant, to name just a few—and after nine months working out of Halsey’s apartment the group moved to Halsbrook's blue-walled offices in downtown Manhattan and launched in September 2012.
